Until recently, materials like carbon or epoxy were applied in professional sailing only, for the construction of maxi regatta racers, to achieve unprecedented performances.

Carbon fibres and epoxy resins provide for a stronger and stiffer yacht hull and thus reduce displacement and improve response and speed. Carbon fibres feature the highest specific stiffness of all materials available in the market, high strength and high resistance to corrosion, ageing and fatigue deterioration. Compared to other resin materials, epoxy resins exhibit excellent mechanical properties and resistance to weather elements; hence their application in advanced technology industries like aeronautical or space industry is no surprise.
